This work was inspired by the concept of duality—the idea that two seemingly identical objects can hold different meanings or associations based on their surroundings. The simplicity of the eggs as objects evokes a sense of fragility, while the cyanotype technique imbues the image with an ethereal quality. The monochromatic blue tones also serve to create both warmth and distance to draw attention to the subtle interactions of light on the surface of the eggs. The eggs symbolize potential, life, and growth, yet their stillness in this image contrasts with the dynamic and unpredictable nature of life itself. The cyanotype process, with its historical roots in early photography, reinforces the theme of preserving a moment in time, freezing an ephemeral interaction of light and shadow.
