I wanted to capture the delicate beauty of early childhood, a time when we are full of potential yet incomplete, still learning the steps of life. I was at a ballet barre, caught in a moment of both action and reflection. Using sketching pencils and charcoal, I worked with soft tones and contrast to explore the concept of growth and innocence. The unfinished elements, particularly the fading lines and uncompleted reflection, speak to the ongoing process of development—the dance is not yet fully formed, just like my future.

This work holds personal meaning as it reflects a moment of transition and learning with the use of charcoal emphasizes the fleeting nature of childhood memories, while the focus on my expression evokes determination and curiosity. I hoped to create a sense of nostalgia and introspection that let the viewer to reflect on their own experiences of growth, challenge, and the stages that remain “unfinished” in all of us.
