The fluidity of thought, the ambiguity of memory, and the subconscious mind are things that always evoke my curiosity. This collage, inspired by cubism, combines a mixture of surreal elements—fragments of text, objects, and images from various sources—crafted to evoke the sensation of a dreamlike state. The figure in the piece, whose head is filled with symbolic objects, represents an individual in deep contemplation, lost between reality and the imaginary. The various items—a watch, a piano score, a pair of shoes, and a bottle of water—carry personal significance, each contributing to the broader themes of time, music, movement, and reflection. The phrase “into unknown” encapsulates the sense of wandering, both mentally and emotionally, into unfamiliar territory. The layering of objects and fragmented imagery creates a sense of disconnection, which mirrors how thoughts and memories are rarely linear or whole in a daydream state. The surrealist composition represents how different aspects of life—art, time, relationships—can overlap in unexpected ways. My choice of a muted color palette, with bursts of vibrant reds and blues, also reflects the occasional sharpness or clarity found within dreams and creative reverie. I want to show a visualization of mental wandering, the abstract nature of inspiration, and the elusive quality of memory.
