The series reflects the isolation and emotional distance that people often experience in moments of vulnerability and illness during COVID-19. It highlights a diverse range of individuals I met during the past four years of traveling to different places, such as London and Alaska, with their features revealing both strength and fragility. In these moments, the side profile is symbolic—it represents how these individuals turn away from the world, locked in their private realities of loneliness, illness, or despair because of the loss of love ones or the disconnection with their families. Through the soft shading and sharp lines of charcoal, I aimed to create a contrast that mirrors the internal conflict these individuals face: the desire to connect versus the suffocating sense of solitude.
